What is Toastmasters?Toastmasters International is a world-wide, non-profit, educational organization dedicated to helping people improve their communication and leadership skills. The first Toastmasters club was founded in 1924 in California by Dr. Ralph Smedley. Since then, the organization has grown to over 10,500 clubs in approximately 90 countries.Toastmasters will help you feel more confident in class presentations and discussions, speaking in public, debating, conducting business meetings, interviewing for jobs and selling ideas or products. At Queen's Toastmasters, our members learn by delivering prepared and impromptu speeches to the group and working with others in a supportive environment. We meet once a week, giving everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, impromptu speaking, presenting prepared speeches, and evaluating other speakers. We are located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Our Mission Statement
"The mission of the Queen's Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth."
